Company eligibility criteria:
- Must be registered with:
- The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) under Companies Act 1965; OR
- The Registry of Societies Malaysia (ROS) under the Organization Act 1966; OR
- Firms incorporated under specific acts. E.g. Law firms and Accounting firms; OR
- Organisations supported by Ministries / Government Agencies; OR
- International organisations certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Company paid-up capital requirement (not applicable to public limited companies, companies limited by guarantee, associations & organisations incorporated under specific acts).

Foreign-owned companies (foreign equity at 51% and above) involved in the sub sectors on unregulated services are required to refer to the Services Industry Division, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism on the application guideline to obtain approval.
Work Permit / Employment Pass
The Employment Pass (EP) is a work permit that enables an expatriate to take up employment with an organisation in Malaysia. The pass is subject to the contract of employment (up to 60 months). The Expatriate Committee (EC) or relevant authorities must give approval for the foreign talent to fill a position before the issuance of an expatriate Employment Pass can be made by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Social Visit Pass eligibility criteria:
- Children above 18 years old, unemployed and unmarried of Employment Pass holder; OR
- Parents & Parents-in-law of Employment Pass holder.; OR
- Common law spouse of Employment Pass holder can be considered
Professional Visit Pass
This Professional Visa is issued to persons who enter Malaysia to take up employment for less than 12 months validity. Expatriates / Foreigners who wish to enter the country for the purpose of engaging on short-term training / contract with any local company in Malaysia. The categories of expatriates / foreigners who are eligible are:
- Artistes
- Volunteers
- Those entering for filming
- Invited lecturers / speakers
- Those entering for religious purpose
- Members of an International
- Organization
- Researchers and Survey
- Experts in installation or maintenance of equipment’s
Visit Pass (Temporary Employment) for Foreign Maid
Foreign Maid eligibility criteria:
- Female, aged 21 – 45 years old; AND
- Health certified by FOMEMA

Resident Pass -Talent (RPT)
The Residence Pass – Talent (RP-T) is a 10-year multiple entry visa which is employer-independent, targeting top foreign talents in NKEA sectors. If you are a high-achieving individual with the capacity to drive business results that contribute towards Malaysia’s economic transformation then you may apply for the RP-T.
Among the benefits include:
- The holder will be allowed to stay and work in Malaysia for 10 years (with an option to renew).
- The holder’s spouse and children below 18 years old will also be given the Residence Pass. The spouse will also be able to work in Malaysia.
- The RP-T is personal to holder.
- Dependents over 18-years old, parents and parents-in-law would be eligible for a 5-year Social Visit Pass.
To qualify for the RP-T, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Have worked in Malaysia for 3 years.
- Hold a valid Employment Pass at the time of application. (Employed)
- Hold a PhD/Master’s/Degree or Diploma in any discipline from a recognised university or a professional/competency certificate from a recognised professional institute.
- Possess 5 years of total work experience.
- Earn a gross taxable income of RM180,000 per annum.
- Have an income tax file number in Malaysia and have paid income tax for at least 2 years.
